Julio Ramirez Vasquez, 44, Killed in Aromas Head-On Crash on Highway 129
AROMAS, CA (October 4, 2021) – Julio Ramirez Vasquez was killed after a head-on crash on Highway 129 in Aromas.
The Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified the 44-year-old Prunedale man as the victim of the fatal wreck which occurerd last week on Friday.
The incident happened when Julio Ramirez Vasquez was driving a 2018 Mitsubishi Fuso west on Highway 129 in Aromas. At the same time, a 2021 Freightliner M2 was going east.
For an unknown reason, a Dodge Durango in front of the Freightliner began slowing for traffic. In the process, the semi-truck collided with the car near the train trestle.
Big Rig Crashes Head-On Into Box Truck
The Dodge swerved and then slammed into a cement wall, just west of Old Chittenden Road. The Freightliner drifted into the westbound lane and hit the box truck head-on.
Julio Ramirez Vasquez died as a result of the Aromas crash. The Santa Cruz Sentinel wrote that the accident took place on October 1 at around 4:30 p.m.
The 30-year-old Firebaugh man driving the Durango sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, a 50-year-old Salinas man, sustained moderate injuries following the wreck.
Paramedics rushed him to the Natividad Medical Center for treatment. Meanwhile, the Aromas collision is still under investigation.
