Police Searching for Suspect in Dark-Colored Suburu Station Wagon
OCEAN BEACH, San Diego County (April 9, 2018) — A man identified as Julio Vazquez was struck by a suspected hit-and-run motorist early Monday morning on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, near Nimitz Boulevard and the Interstate 8 Freeway off ramp, according to San Diego News 10.
The collision took place on the southbound side of the roadway, shortly after a man stopped to help a couple who were having car problems. Vazquez, who was acting as a Good Samaritan, was checking the engine of the stranded motorist when he was struck by the driver who was speeding by the disabled vehicle just after midnight. The suspect struck the door of the white Lexus and ran over the man’s foot before speeding off.
The Good Samaritan, who had been traveling with his wife and children in a blue Lexus, suffered a broken foot, a fractured rib and a bruised lung and was rushed to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest for treatment.
On May 7, almost a month after the incident occurred, police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jaron Hillyer. Hillyer was arrested him for felony hit and run, driving with a suspended license, and not having valid insurancel
