JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. (March 8, 2023) — A fatal dog attack in Jurupa Valley happened Tuesday at Bellegrave Avenue and Martin Street.
The four dogs attacked and killed Mateo Salvador, 42, as he was working on a property across the street from Jurupa Valley High School, according to Riverside County Animal Services.
Someone called 911 for help after they heard the man’s screams near the intersection, the Orange County Register reported.
Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies and Animal Services officers responded around 7:30 a.m. on March 7th. The victim had reportedly worked on the property previously without incident, according to an Animal Services representative.
Meanwhile, the property owner was not at the scene at the time of the attack. The man returned to his property and later surrendered his four dogs to be euthanized. The property is a home that had been converted into a business, news reports said.
The animals included three Belgian Malinois and one Cane Corso breed similar but much larger than a pit bull.

The incident remains under investigation.
