Man Riding Off Road Motorcycle Killed in Crash
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2021) — Justin Gatewood, 20, of Riverside, died Thursday when his off-road motorcycle crashed into the side of an SUV at Main and Alamo streets.
Justin Gatewood was riding his motorcycle southbound behind another man on a separate off road bike. The two were riding in the bicycle lane of the roadway without their headlights on around 6 p.m. on Jan. 21st. The driver in a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek was turning from northbound Main Street onto westbound Alamo Street, Riverside police said. The first motorcycle managed to make it through the intersection, but as Gatewood drove through the Subaru turned in front of the bike.
The dirt bike was not registered for use on city streets, police said.
Paramedics with the Riverside County Fire Department responded and treated Gatewood, but sadly he died a short time later.
Furthermore, police are investigating the cause of the West Covina crash and liability.
