Justiniano Ixpec Cayaxon, 49, from Guatemala, Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident
DATE OF COLLISION: Sunday, October 21st
October 23, 2018- According to the Marin Independent Journal, a deadly pedestrian versus auto collision was reported over the weekend on Highway 101 directly under the Alameda del Prado overcrossing.
California Highway Patrol officials confirmed that the victim ID’d as Justiniano Ixpec Cayaxon, 49, of Guatemala, was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Upon the arrival of emergency service team members, the 49-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Per the Independent Journal, the driver involved who struck the victim did remain at the scene and was cooperative with police officials after the accident.
Neither drugs or alcohol appeared to have been a factor in the incident, however, the investigation remains ongoing.
Officials disclosed that the northbound lanes of Highway 101 were shut down for nearly two hours all the way to Nave Drive while evidence was gathered at the collision site.
No further details have been made available at this time.
