Kara Giacone, 18, Seriously Injured in Anaheim Wrong-Way Crash on 91 Freeway
ANAHEIM, CA (July 6, 2021) – Kara Giacone was seriously injured after a fatal wrong-way crash on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 18-year-old Tustin woman as one of the victims in the wreck which occurred early Tuesday.
The incident began when Kara Trisha Giacone was riding as a passenger in a 2015 Honda going east on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim.
A Dodge Dakota traveling west entered the eastbound lanes from the Harbor Boulevard off-ramp. In the process, the pickup truck hit the Honda.
Man Badly Hurt, Woman Killed in Car Collision
CHP said Kara Giacone and the male driver of the Honda sustained major injuries as a result of the Anaheim crash. Paramedics took them to the UC Irvine Medical Center for treatment.
KTLA News and My News LA wrote that the accident took place at about 1:15 a.m. Meanwhile, medical personnel pronounced the woman driving the Dodge dead at the scene.
CHP added that a 2019 Mercedes-Benz became involved in the accident and its occupants ended up unharmed. The wrong-way collision is still under investigation.
Officers forced three lanes of the eastbound 91 Freeway to shut down following the wreck. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 714-892-4426
