Rio Vista Woman Identified as Victim of Head-on Crash
SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. (May 12, 2022) — Karen Elizabeth DiCicco, 58, of Rio Vista, has been identified as the woman who died in a head-on crash on state Route Highway 160 at West Sherman Island Road.
The two-vehicle crash occurred about 1 p.m. on April 28th in the Rio Vista area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two sport utility vehicles collided head-on. The drivers involved were a silver Kia SUV and a black Saturn SUV.
Paramedics responded to help the injured, but sadly Karen DiCicco and a dog died in the crash.
Transit officials closed down all traffic lanes of Highway 160, just north of Sherman Island Road near Rio Vista.
Witnesses told CHP officials that some good Samaritans tried to help one person trapped and unconscious inside one of the SUVs. The Rio Vista woman later died at the scene.
The CHP report did not mention if others suffered injuries in the head-on crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
