Woman, 26, Killed, Boy, 6, Injured in Dog Attack

 Karen Rosa-Madrid Fatal Dog Attack Elizondo Street in ValindaSAN GABRIEL VALLEY, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2021) — Karen Rosa-Madrid, 26, died in a fatal dog attack Tuesday night at a home on Elizondo Street in East Valinda.

The woman reportedly forgot her keys and was attempting enter a home where she lived with her sister-in-law through a backyard window. However, the four dogs living at the home fatally attacked her. They also injured the woman’s 6-year-old son, according to the Orange County Register.

The deadly attack happened about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28th in the 18000 block of Elizondo Street, police said.

Authorities investigating the incident told reporters the family dogs were familiar with the child, but it’s unknown why they did not recognize the mother.

Police did not mention the breed of the four dogs involved.

Arriving police and firefighters reported seeing the barking dogs and a woman lying in the backyard. Police located the child at a neighbor’s house. Paramedics treated him for minor injuries.

Firefighters used hoses to move the dogs away from the injured woman. Paramedics transported her to to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Doctors treated her for major injuries to her head and an arm, but she later died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the dogs were removed from the home by the county’s Department of Animal Care and Control.

Investigators continue to work on the case and will determine fault.
