3 Hospitalized Highway 101 Crash at La Franchi Road in Hopland
HOPLAND, Calif. (Jan. 3, 2019) – Three women were injured Monday afternoon in a 3-vehicle collision on the northbound Highway 101, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The crash took place about 2:25 p.m. at La Franchi Road in Mendocino County.
The report stated that Danielle Doris, 38, of Cloverdale, was heading north on Highway 101 in an Acura when she swerved over the double yellow lines and sideswiped a southbound Honda Accord driven by Wilma Worton, 77, of Rohnert Park. The Honda and ended up in a dirt mound on the side of the road. Doris reportedly lost control of her vehicle and also struck a Nissan Versa that was in the southbound lanes. Karen Seydel, 75, of Ukiah, was driving the Nissan and suffered minor injuries.
Paramedics responded and rushed Doris and Seydel to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital by air ambulance due to major injuries they sustained in the collision.
Seydel was treated for a broken femur, pelvis, multiple rib injuries, and a wrist injury. Doris suffered a fractured pelvis and broken ribs. Meanwhile, Whorton was treated for lacerations and pain to her sternum and shoulder at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley hospital.
The crash is under investigation by the CHP. It appears that the driver in the Honda Accord may be held responsible for this accident.
