
Karen Veninga-Zaricor DUI crash Soquel
DUI Driver in Soquel Head-On Crash ID’d as Karen Veninga-Zaricor, 31
SOQUEL, CA (January 8, 2021) – Authorities detained Karen Veninga-Zaricor after a DUI crash along Rodeo Gulch Road in Soquel.
Officers determined that the 31-year-old Soquel woman was under the influence of drugs when the wreck occurred on Friday.
The incident happened when Karen Veninga-Zaricor was driving a 2013 Audi northbound on North Rodeo Gulch Road. At the same time, a 55-year old man was riding a Triumph motorcycle south.
Veninga-Zaricor then drifted into the southbound lane and across the double yellow lines. She went directly into the path of the motorcycle rider.
Motorcyclist Hit and Seriously Injured on Rodeo Gulch Road
The California Highway Patrol said the Audi struck the victim head-on. According to reports by The Pajaronian and KION News, the accident took place at around 12:09 p.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene. They found the motorcyclist suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance took the patient to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment. His name and condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, officials soon arrested and charged Veninga-Zaricor with DUI causing great bodily injury. Authorities booked her into Santa Cruz County Jail with a bail set at $10,000.
The crash is still under investigation.
