Scooter Rider Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Manchester Avenue

January 3, 2019 – A man riding a scooter on Manchester Avenue was ran over by a suspected hit-and-run driver Thursday, according to ABC News.
Primary reports indicated a wild, three-hour pursuit took place through three counties Thursday afternoon. At a point when the pursuit vehicle, an older-model maroon Honda Civic, reached Playa del Rey area it reportedly struck a man on a motorized scooter then continued driving.
Paramedics were dispatched in the 7800 block of West Manchester and found the male pedestrian suffering in injuries. The victim was provided treatment, but his condition at this time has not been disclosed thus far.
Meanwhile, authorities identified the hit-and-run suspect as 34-year-old Karl Flores. The driver was described as a veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
The chase ended after the Honda apparently run out of gas near the Las Pulgas Road exit in the Camp Pendleton area near Oceanside. Officials then escorted the detainee from the hospital and loaded him into the back of a CHP SUV.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
