Two Injured in 6-Vehicle Collision in the Sawtelle Area
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 13, 2024) — Karsten Gopinath, 53, of Los Angeles, died in a multi-vehicle crash last night on Olympic Boulevard at Centinela Avenue in the Sawtelle area of West Los Angeles.
The traffic accident, which involved roughly six vehicles, occurred around 8:12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The LAPD responded to the intersection where Karsten Gopinath’s black Tesla sedan collided with a driver in an SUV making a left-hand turn. The Tesla crashed into a large tree in the center median and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, an SUV overturned and another vehicle wound up on its side.
A total of six vehicles including two Teslas, an Audi SUV, a Mazda, a Mercedes and one other vehicle were involved.
Paramedics transported at least one person who was critically injured to a hospital and another was treated for minor injuries, police said.
Investigators are working on the case to determine if speed or other factors contributed to the collision.
