Driver Crashes into Home; 2 Ejected
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (May 31, 2023) — Kassandra Gaona, 24, died early Sunday morning in a rollover crash into a home at Dinuba Avenue and Fancher Street in Selma.
The solo-vehicle collision occurred around 4 a.m. on May 28th in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner identified the young woman who was a passenger in a 2005 Kia Soul.
The man driving the Kia reportedly lost control and collided with a pole, a parked car and the home, according to Fox 26 News.
Kassandra Gaona Killed, Man Injured
Investigators reported the vehicle was speeding and overturned as it flew through the air. The man and woman identified as Kassandra Gaona were both thrown out of the car before it crashed into the home. Police do not know if alcohol or drugs were a factor, but they the driver and passenger were likely not wearing seatbelts.
Paramedics responded and rushed them both to the hospital, but the young woman died around 8 a.m. the same day.
The man remains at the hospital where he is being treated for undisclosed, life-threatening injuries.
