SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Feb. 16, 2023) — Katherine Garcia, 26, of Hermosa Beach, died in a crash at First Avenue and B Street earlier this month in San Diego.
The solo-vehicle collision occurred about 3 a.m. on Feb. 6th, in the 1200 block of First Street, according to a report by the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The young woman was riding as a passenger in a Toyota sedan that was traveling eastbound on B Street when it entered First Street and crashed into a guardrail abutment, the report said. Upon impact, the car overturned multiple times and Katherine Garcia was ejected.
Some bystanders called 911 for help and the San Diego Police Department responded with paramedics.
Despite life-saving measures by medical crews, the Hermosa Beach woman died at the scene about 3:26 a.m., the report said.
The San Diego Police Department is heading up an investigation into the cause of the crash.
