POLLOCK PINES, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2018) — Phillip Charles Smith, 67, and his passenger, Katheryn Ruby Hill, 72, both of Pollock Pines, were killed early Wednesday in a solo crash on Pony Express Trail, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The fatal crash took place when Smith crashed his 1998 Volkswagen Beetle into two trees on the side of the roadway. The two victims were both wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.
An investigation into this collision is underway to determine whether the collision was caused by driver error or some other circumstance.
