2 Killed in Oakland Car Accident on I-80 Freeway, University Ave
OAKLAND, California (September 13, 2021) – Keandre Allums, 28, of San Pablo, and Michael Bernardo, 46, of Hercules, died Sunday morning after a collision and a pedestrian accident on the I-80 Freeway in Oakland.
There were two collisions, one after the other about 1:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12th on the freeway, just west of University Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The initial crash involved the drivers of a Chevrolet Malibu and a Dodge Durango. The two vehicles collided and three people subsequently exited their vehicles, including a female passenger. The two drivers begun to argue about the collision on the freeway.
Next, an oncoming Mini Cooper struck both drivers in the roadway. The 50-year-old San Francisco man driving the Mini Cooper stopped after the pedestrian accident.
Unfortunately, both Keandre Allums and Michael Bernardo died at the scene.
Meanwhile, debris struck the female passenger and she suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported her by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Additionally, police will determine liability for the deadly crash. Furthermore, witnesses or anyone with information about the fatal Oakland crash may contact the Oakland CHP Office at (510) 457-2875.
