Street Sweeper Strikes, Kills Woman at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Overland Drive Sunday
Kearny Mesa, CA (April 12, 2021) – A female pedestrian died following a traffic accident in the area of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Overland Drive Sunday night.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported a 2006 Toyota Tundra street sweeper struck a woman at the Kearny Mesa intersection. For reasons still unclear, the victim stood still in the crosswalk prior to the crash.
When the street sweeper approached the intersection of Clairemont Mesa an Overland, the 35-year-old man operating the motor vehicle did not immediately see the pedestrian and struck her.

The collision resulted in fatal injuries to the woman. Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but she sadly succumbed to his injuries. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate liability in the deadly pedestrian accident in Kearny Mesa.
