2 Injured in Kearny Mesa Crash at Balboa Avenue and Kearny Villa Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 7, 2022) – Two were hospitalized after a DUI crash at Balboa Avenue and Kearny Villa Road in Kearny Mesa.
According to an article published by The San Diego Union-Tribune, the accident took place early Friday. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 1 a.m.
The incident happened when a white Toyota RAV4 was going south on Kearny Villa Road, approaching Balboa Avenue. At the same time, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling east on Balboa.
San Diego police said the Toyota then entered the intersection and slammed into the Hyundai. The two cars crashed in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the 51-year-old man driving the Elantra hurt. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
The driver of the RAV4, a 23-year-old woman, complained of pain to her wrist. Medical personnel rushed both patients to the hospital for treatment.
The reports did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, police determined that the woman was under the influence when she hit the other car.
They soon arrested and booked her into the Las Colinas jail on suspicion of DUI. Officers forced the area of Balboa and Kearny Villa to shut down following the wreck.
The Kearny Mesa DUI crash is still under investigation.
