Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Kearny Mesa Crash on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 27, 2022) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in Kearny Mesa.
According to an article published by the San Diego Union-Tribune, the tragic accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:55 p.m.
The incident happened when a 27-year-old man was riding a 2014 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle east on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood.
A Penske truck was heading in the same direction at the time. San Diego police said the truck then made a right turn and went into the path of the rider.
Motorcycle and Box Truck Collide
In the process, the box truck slammed into the front of the motorcycle. The two crashed on June 26, just east of state Route 163.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist down on the ground. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of a lung contusion and multiple spinal fractures. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police added that the 53-year-old man driving the truck ended up unharmed. Officers forced a stretch of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Kearny Mesa crash is still under investigation.
