Keiona Hyde Arrest for Bakersfield Fatal Crash at Panama Lane and Stine Road

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2025) — Keiona Hyde, 35, was arrested this week following an investigation into a suspected DUI crash that killed a 23-year-old Chasie Aquino Carino last month in southwest Bakersfield.
Authorities arrested the suspect on September 3rd and booked the person into the Lerdo Jail Facility. Keiona Shanise Hyde faces multiple charges for the Aug. 24th crash, including gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence causing death, DUI causing great bodily injury, driving at an unsafe speed, and failing to stop at a red light or stop sign.
Hyde is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and is due in court at 8:30 a.m. on Mon. Sept. 8th.
Delano Woman Killed in Crash at Bakersfield Intersection
Chasie Aquino Carino, 23 of Delano, died in the on an early Sunday morning around 1:20 a.m. at Panama Lane and Stine Road in southwest Bakersfield, authorities confirmed.
The young woman was soon to graduate and begin a career in teaching. Her family is raising money to lay her to rest.
Bakersfield police said a vehicle heading west on Panama struck a southbound vehicle as it drove through the intersection. Carino, a passenger in the southbound car, was ejected and died at the scene. The driver of that car was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the westbound vehicle suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.
