Woman, 54, Killed in Crash on 605 Freeway in Lakewood
LAKEWOOD, Calif. (July 5, 2023) – Kelly Drake, 54, of Westminster, died and a second person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate 605 Freeway at Carson Street in Lakewood.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the woman. She was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the 7-vehicle traffic accident.
The California Highway Patrol reported the collision around 8:14 p.m. on Sunday, July 2nd.
Police are paramedics responded and transported one person to a hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Also, the collision followed an earlier two-vehicle crash that happened at the Carson Street off-ramp. Kelly Drake was riding in one of five vehicles whose drivers were unable to avoid the wreckage and crashed.
Finally, investigators are working on the case to determine fault and liability.
