MARTINEZ, Calif. (Feb. 3, 2023) — Kellye Van Patten, 44, of San Jose, died in a fatal crash on the westbound Highway 4, just east of the Pine Street off ramp in the Martinez area.
The deadly crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 1st in Contra Costa County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The San Jose woman was driving on Highway 4 when for unknown reasons she hit the center divider and then two other motorists crashed into her vehicle, according to the Mercury News.
Two or three vehicles including a maroon Toyota SUV were involved in the collision and were blocking all traffic lanes, the report said.
Kellye Van Patten was reportedly thrown from a vehicle and died at the scene, the report said.
Authorities closed down the Morello Avenue on ramp to the westbound Highway 4 and issued a SigAlert.
An investigation is underway to determine fault for the Martinez crash on Highway 4.
