Kenneth Sterling Sr., 78, Killed in Santa Barbara Crash Near Cota and Salsipuedes
SANTA BARBARA, CA (November 29, 2021) – Kenneth Sterling Sr. was killed after a DUI crash at Cota and Salsipuedes in Santa Barbara.
Police identified the 78-year-old Santa Barbara man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Saturday.
The incident began when Kenneth Warfield Sterling Sr. was riding a motorcycle south in the 600 block of North Salsipuedes Street in Santa Barbara.
Police said a Jeep SUV slammed into the back of the motorcyclist near the intersection with East Cota Street. The bike careened half a block and hit a Toyota sedan parked in the 500 block of Salsipuedes.

Kenneth Sterling ended up thrown from the motorcycle about 85 feet as a result of the crash. The Jeep then struck a parked Dodge Ram truck in the area.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the motorcyclist lying unresponsive on the ground. He died at the scene.
The KEYT News and Noozhawk wrote that the accident occurred on November 27 shortly before 2 p.m. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the Jeep was under the influence when he hit the rider.
They soon arrested the motorist, 48-year-old Raul A. Gonzalez, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing injury or death, both felonies.
Officers booked the Santa Barbara man into the county jail in lieu of a $1 million bail. The Santa Barbara DUI crash is still under investigation.
