Man, 70, Victim in Temecula Pool Drowning

TEMECULA (June 22, 2017)- According to the Press-Enterprise, a man identified as Kent Jones, 70, was the victim who drowned in a swimming pool Tuesday.

Authorities were notified at some point during the day of a man who was unconscious and lifeless inside a swimming pool located in the Crowne Hill neighborhood off of Fox Road.

Authorities sadly determined the victim, Kent Jones, to have been dead at the scene upon their arrival.

It remains unclear at this time what exactly happened as the incident will remain under investigation.

Based on this news report, it remains unclear what exactly happened and may have caused the victim to drown. Was the residential pool properly supervised by the pool owner or a lifeguard? Was the pool left unsecured and unattended? Did the swimming pool contain any hazardous filtration equipment and has it met all standard safety code rules and regulations? Temecula police officials will thoroughly investigate this incident and will determine whether or not there was any wrongdoing.

In this particular case, depending on the investigation it is possible that the family of Mr. Kent Jones could potentially pursue a wrongful death claim if there confirmed to have been negligence against the individual or entity in charge ensuring pool safety. Family members of a wrongful death victim have the right to seek compensation for damages including funeral costs, lost future income and loss of love and companionship.
