Kenya Morris, 26, ID’d as Suspect in Oakland Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
OAKLAND, CA (March 5, 2022) – Authorities detained Kenya Morris after a hit-and-run crash that killed a scooter rider in Oakland.
Police identified the 26-year-old Vallejo woman as the suspect in the fatal wreck which took place last year on October 29.
The incident happened when Kenya Morris was driving a gray 4-door sedan on Foothill Boulevard, approaching 23rd Avenue in Oakland.
At the same time, Michelle Marbley was riding an electric scooter north on 23rd Avenue. For an unknown reason, Kenya Morris ran a red light at the intersection.

Police said she then slammed into the 54-year-old Oakland woman who had the green light. The East Bay Times and NBC Bay Area wrote that the collision occurred at about 10 p.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the scooter rider dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area.
They located and arrested Kenya Morris at her home later in the evening of the hit-and-run incident. Officers initially released her and soon charged her with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
Police held the suspect without bail at the Santa Rita jail. The cause of the Oakland hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
