DUI Driver Kenyon Travell Evans, 44, Crashes Into Gas Station and Hits 2 People
ADELANTO, CA (February 18, 2021) – Authorities detained Kenyon Evans after a DUI crash at Highway 395 and Air Expressway in Adelanto.
Deputies determined that the 44-year-old Hesperia man was under the influence when the wreck occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened when Kenyon Travell Evans, was driving south on Jonathan Road. He crossed over Air Expressway and plowed into a drainage ditch.
The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station said Evans then accelerated to get out of the ditch. In the process, he continued through the perimeter fence of the AM/PM gas station.
Victims Hit and Trapped Under Vehicle at AM/PM Gas Station
He ultimately struck two people who were pumping gas at the time. According to the Victor Valley News, the accident took place on February 16 in the intersection.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and rescued the two victims who ended up trapped underneath the vehicle. They suffered major injuries as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance took one patient to a trauma center while a ground ambulance rushed the other party for treatment. Their names and condition at this time were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, officers soon arrested Evans for DUI with a bail set at $100,000. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
