Keren Martinez, Anahi Uribe and Children Victims in Oakland DUI Hit-and-Run Crash
OAKLAND, CA (September 11, 2021) – A DUI hit-and-run crash injured Keren Martinez, Anahi Uribe and several children in Oakland.
CBS Francisco identified the two women as two of the nine victims in the collision which took place on Thursday night.
The incident began when Keren Martinez was driving a Honda Odyssey going north on 38th Avenue in Oakland with Anahi Uribe as one of her passengers.
At the same time, a Pontiac G6 was traveling at about 90 mph east on International Boulevard. The car, weaving in an out of a bus lane, ran a red light at the intersection.
Police said the Pontiac then broadsided the minivan and struck a Jeep Wrangler stopped in the 3800 block of International Boulevard.
Drunk Driver Hits Family Van
A 9-year-old girl ended up ejected from the Honda and suffered a dislocated shoulder and head injuries upon impact. The wreck occurred on September 9 at about 8:39 p.m.
Keren Martinez, Anahi Uribe, another adult and six more children sustained unspecified injuries as a result of the Oakland crash. Paramedics took all of the victims for treatment.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 32-year-old man driving the Pontiac abandoned his vehicle and tried to flee on foot. They caught him and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol
Officers soon arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run causing death or great bodily injury. They also charged him with reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
East Bay Times and KRON 4 News wrote that authorities held the suspect in lieu of $100,000 bail. The Oakland DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
