Kern County Big Rig Crash Highway 58 Near Keene

2 Seriously Injured in Keene Big Rig Crash on Highway 58

KERN COUNTY, CA (September 20, 2022) – A big rig crash on Highway 58 left two people seriously injured near Keene.

According to The Bakersfield Californian and Kern Golden Empire, the accident took place early Tuesday. Officers reported the wreck at about 1:30 a.m.

The Kern County Fire Department said three semi-trucks collided for an unknown reason east of Keene. The big rigs crashed on the eastbound side of Highway 58.

Multiple Trucks Collide

The cab of one of the trucks slammed into the trailer of another. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and freed one trapped person from the cab.

Two victims ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed both patients to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, officers forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 to shut down following the wreck.

The cause of the Keene crash is still under investigation.
