Man, 38, Killed in Kern County Crash on David Road Near Arvin
KERN COUNTY, CA (September 29, 2022) – A crash killed one person and injured another on David Road near Arvin in Kern County.
According to the Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Now, the tragic accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 6:40 a.m.
The incident happened when a Buick Rendezvous going west on David Road near Arvin in Kern County. At the same time, a Toyota Matrix was traveling west.
Gerardo Espinoza, 66, Injured in Wreck
For an unknown reason, the Buick crossed into the eastbound lane. The California High Patrol said the car then slammed head-on into the Toyota, west of Edison Road.
Firefighters arrived and pronounced the 38-year-old man driving the Matrix dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Buick, Gerardo Espinoza, sustained minor to moderate injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed the 66-year-old Arvin man to the Kern Medical for treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of David Road to shut down for a time near Arvin following the wreck. The fatal Kern County crash is still under investigation.
