1 Killed in Kern County Crash on Highway 58 Near Edwards Air Force Base

KERN COUNTY, CA (November 5, 2021) – A car crash killed at least one person on Highway 58 near Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County.

According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident took place early Friday. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 2:45 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Kern County. They crashed on westbound Highway 58 near the Edwards Air Force Base.

2 Vehicles Collide

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene, near Castle Butte Road. They extricated a trapped occupant from the wreckage.

Medical personnel then confirmed that one victim died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, CHP forced the westbound lanes of Highway 58 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Kern County crash is still under investigation.
