Driver Makes Unsafe Turn, Fatally Strikes Rodarte on Bicycle
The incident was recorded to have taken place at 6:05 a.m. at the intersection of Brown Street (Highway 41) and Racine Avenue.
The bicyclist was initially thought to have been injured but was declared dead within minutes of the collision.
In an article by The Fresno Bee, Kings County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 53-year-old Juan Manuel Rodarte, of Kettleman City.
CHP said Rodarte was riding his bicycle north on Highway 41 when he was struck by a northbound car from behind. The impact threw him into the gravel.
The driver, Omar Hildago, made an unsafe right turn and drove onto the gravel shoulder, hitting the cyclist. He reportedly stayed following the crash.
