Lompoc, CA (August 13, 2021) – Police arrested Kevin Alvarado-Velasquez in relation with a deadly OHV crash on West Chestnut Avenue on August 12, Thursday.

The Noozhawk News reported Kevin Alvarado-Velasquez was driving an off-highway vehicle (OHV) in the streets of Lompoc. When the OHV approached the 1400 block of West Chestnut Avenue, the driver a lost control and crashed.

Preliminary investigation revealed the force from the impact ejected the passenger, a 1-year-old child. Shortly after 6:15 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the location and found the infant with serious injuries. An ambulance rushed the victim to a local hospital, where they later sadly died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Authorities later identified the operator of the OHV as Kevin Alvarado-Velasquez. According to the article published online, police arrested the man for for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter; driving under the influence causing great bodily injury; and child abuse causing death.

Further investigation on the catastrophic incident is underway.
