
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 22, 2023) – Kevin Castillo and Maria Belen Polanco were both died in a hit-and-run crash on Normandie Avenue in South Los Angeles.
A driver in a white Jeep Wrangler Rubicon reportedly struck their BMW at high speed near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The two-vehicle crash occurred around 12:38 a.m. on May 21st, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division. Kevin Castillo, 20, of Pomona, and Maria Belen Polanco, 20, of Los Angeles, both died at the scene. Maria was a sophomore at the University of Southern California.
Meanwhile, the driver in the Jeep reportedly fled the scene, but was later arrested and charged with murder.
There is a GoFundMe page to fund a funeral for Maria Belen Polanco.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
