Kevin Spruell Sr, 49, Killed in Joshua Tree Crash near Center and Shifting Sands
JOSHUA TREE, CA (March 16, 2022) – Kevin Spruell Sr was killed after a DUI crash near Center Avenue and Shifting Sands Drive in Joshua Tree.
The coroner’s office identified the 49-year-old Joshua Tree man as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place on Monday night.
The incident happened when Kevin Spruell Sr was riding as a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker traveling in Joshua Tree.
The car made an unsafe turn to the left in the area of Center Avenue and Shifting Sands Drive. In the process, the Chevrolet rolled over onto a dirt berm on private property.
Driver Arrested For DUI
The California Highway Patrol said Kevin Spruell Sr died as a result of the crash. The KESQ News wrote that the accident occurred on March 14 at about 8:40 p.m.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the 24-year-old Joshua Tree man driving the Tracker was under the influence when he crashed their car.
Medical personnel took the driver to the Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries. Officers soon arrested him on DUI charges.
Police forced the corner of Center and Shifting Sands to shut down for a time following the wreck. The Joshua Tree crash is still under investigation.
