Arrest Made of Suspect for Fatal Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident
TORRANCE, Calif. (May 11, 2022) – Torrance police arrested Kevin Torres-Valencia, 20, on suspicion of felony hit-and-run following the death of a female pedestrian at Pacific Coast Highway and Calle Mayor.
The deadly pedestrian accident occurred about 1 a.m. on May 11th, the Torrance Police Department reports. Authorities did not release the name and age of the woman who died.
Relative Notified Authorities
Following the collision, police officers located video surveillance to identify the suspect’s vehicle, Torrance police Sgt. Mark Ponegalek said.
However, a relative of the suspect contacted the Torrance Police Department about the traffic accident.
Soon after, police arrested Kevin Torres-Valencia on suspicion of felony hit and run. They do not suspect the driver was impaired at the time of the collision.
The police investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.
