Kham Lam Killed in Crash Airport Boulevard in South San Francisco
Alleged Wrong-Way Driver Arrested for Nov. 21 Crash
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Nov. 29, 2023) — Kham Ky Lam, 56, of Daly City, died last week in a crash with an alleged wrong-way driver on Airport Boulevard in South San Francisco.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 3:24 a.m. on Nov. 21st, according to a report by East Bay Times.
Cherise Nicole Shanta Wafer, 40, of Antioch, was reportedly speeding and driving on the wrong side of the roadway when she crashed head-on into a vehicle occupied by Kham Lam. The victim sustained major injuries and died following the collision. Meanwhile, the Antioch woman allegedly walked into a nearby Denny’s restaurant and asked for a glass of water, but did not report the crash or seek assistance, CBS News reports.
Meanwhile, police arrested the woman two days later on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving the wrong way resulting in death. She plead not guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter charges on Monday, Nov. 27th, CBS News reports.
She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City and is scheduled to appear again in court on Dec. 7.
