SANTA ROSA, California (May 28, 2016) – 33-year-old bicyclist Kimberly Hughes sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Mendocino Avenue, according to an article by Press Democrat.
The accident happened today at around 6:30 a.m.
As per the article, Hughes was riding north in the outside lane of the avenue when she turned left making her way towards 10th Street then was hit by an oncoming white Ford F-150 truck driven by 33-year-old Nathaniel Libeu. The force from the impact sent Hughes overthrown to the ground where she was found suffering in severe trauma.
Hughes was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators will continue to gather more evidence as there are factors that remain unclear.
