Railroad Avenue Fatal Crash in PIttsburg
PITTSBURG, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2018) — A two-vehicle crash left a driver and passenger dead after their vehicle collided with another motorist Saturday night on Railroad Avenue.
The Contra Costa County coroner identified the victims as Kimberly Seng, 58, and Rasmey Seng, 63.
The crash took place just after 10 p.m. on southbound Railroad Avenue near Alturas Avenue.
The roadway was closed down several hours to investigate. So far police have learned that the two cars were traveling in the same direction. on Railroad Avenue. The person driving the Toyota in the left of the two lanes tried to move into the right-hand lane.
At the same time, driver in a Lexus who was in that right lane, reportedly sped up to pass the Toyota and side-swiped the vehicle. Police also believe the Lexus was speeding prior to the collision. The impact caused the Lexus to veer off to the right shoulder where it struck a tree. The passenger died upon impact, but the driver was trapped in the vehicle alive. After firefighters extricated the driver, he was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he later died on Sunday.
The Toyota driver suffered minor injuries and was questioned about what happened by police.
Contra Costa County Crash Investigation
The investigation into this collision is underway to determine fault. At this time, we do not know if the account of what happened has been confirmed or whether liability has been determined.
