3 Hospitalized After Collision Near Highway 41
Kings County, CA (June 16, 2022) – Multiple people suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on Interstate 5 near Highway 41.
According to ABC News, several vehicles collided on the freeway just south of Kettleman City. Earlier reports indicated the crash involved two trucks, and a car. Preliminary investigation revealed the Audi sedan was heading south on I-5 when it made an unsafe turn. Subsequently, the sedan slammed into the side of a big rig trailer traveling in the same direction.
Officials said the force from the impact caused the Audi to overturn and land on the roof. The article published online mentioned the driver of the car stepped down of their flipped car, and was struck by a passing box truck.
Major Injury Traffic Accident on Interstate 5 in Kings County
Shortly after 11:10 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. First responders found two occupants in the big rig, and the Audi driver suffering in injuries. A helicopter transported all three patients to the hospital for treatment of severe trauma. Personal information on the patients remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the box truck continued driving after it hit the driver of the Audi. Investigators continue to gather information to identify and locate the hit-and-run suspect.
Detectives continue to work to determine several unclear factors surrounding the accident on Interstate 5 in Kings County.
