KNIGHTS FERRY: One Dead, 3 Injured in Head-on Tanker Truck Crash on Highway 108

KNIGHTS FERRY, Calif. (MAY 13, 2014) — At least one person is dead and possibly three injured following a head-on crash between a car and a tank truck early Tuesday morning on Highway 108 at Kennedy Road, just east of Lover’s Leap, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.

About 3:52 a.m., CHP officers responded to the crash involving the big rig truck loaded with gas and noted that “no one was moving in either vehicle.” The gas tank truck was not leaking fuel upon their arrival and police called for paramedics who responded with an air ambulance and two ground ambulances. One person was confirmed dead at the scene about 4:12 a.m. and police put in a call for the Stanislaus County Coroner in Modesto.

“This is a tragedy for the family and friends of this the person who died here,” said Attorney James Johnson. “My condolences go out to them as they learn of this tragedy and I pray that those injured have a speedy recovery.”
