Kody Cihal Suspect in Hemet DUI Crash at Girard and Menlo
HEMET, CA (October 9, 2022) – Authorities detained Kody Cihal after a DUI crash at Girard Street and Menlo Avenue in Hemet.
Police determined that the man in his 40s was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred on Saturday.
The incident happened when Kody Ray Cihal was driving in the area of Girard Street and Menlo Avenue in Hemet. At the same time, several pedestrians left a party in the residential area nearby.
Hemet police said Kody Cihal then struck victims as they about to get in a car. The Daily Bulletin wrote that the accident took place on October 8 shortly before 11 p.m.
Pedestrians Hit and Injured by Car
Two women became trapped underneath a pickup truck due to the impact of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon freed the victims.
A total of six people, including a 6-year-old child, sustained moderate to significant injuries as a result of the incident. Medical personnel rushed all patients to hospitals for treatment.
The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, police soon arrested Kody Cihal on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment.
Officers forced the area of Girard and Menlo to shut down following the crash. The Hemet DUI incident is still under investigation.
