Woman, 42, Killed in Head-on Crash Highway 247
LUCERNE VALLEY, Calif. (June 24, 2024) — Kristina Kimsey, 42, of Apple Valley, died in a head-on motorcycle accident Thursday on Old Woman Springs Road (Highway 247) in Lucerne Valley.
The two-vehicle collision occurred on Hwy 247 at Visalia Avenue around 6:25 p.m. on June 20, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Kristina Kimsey was riding her 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when a driver in a southbound 2020 Toyota Corolla crossed a solid yellow line into her path. The 43-year-old Apple Valley man in the Toyota was attempting to pass slower-moving traffic.
The Toyota collided head-on into the woman’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle and Kimsey was thrown off her bike into the roadway. She suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota sustained was treated on scene for minor injuries.
The woman’s death is a tragedy for her family. She has three children ages 20, Sophia (18), and Ethan (16), who need support. There is a GoFundMe page raising money to help family with financial needs.
