Kurt Pettitt, 56, Killed; Lynda Pettitt, 52, Badly Injured in Stockton Crash

STOCKTON, CA (June 16, 2022) – A DUI crash killed Kurt Pettitt and badly injured Lynda Pettitt on Jack Tone Road in Stockton.

The California Highway Patrol identified the Escalon couple as victims of the fatal wreck which took place on Saturday.

The incident happened when Kurt Pettitt, 56, was driving a Kawasaki cart on Jack Tone Road with Lynda Pettitt, 52, as his passenger in Stockton.

At the same time, a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area. CHP said in the process, the speeding car struck the victims near the Mariposa Road intersection.

Speeding DUI Driver Hits Couple

Their Kawasaki rolled onto its side due to the impact of the collision. The Escalon Times and FOX 40 News wrote that the accident occurred on June 11 at about 9:15 p.m.

Kurt Pettitt, Lynda Pettitt and their two dogs riding with them ended up ejected from their vehicle as a result of the crash. The man died at the scene.

Paramedics rushed his wife to the San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The 20-year-old Ripon man driving the Volkswagen survived the wreck with minor wounds.

Meanwhile, CHP determined that he was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the couple. Witnesses added that he was going over 100 mph, crossing over the double solid line, and passing several cars at the time.

Officers soon arrested and booked the suspect into the San Joaquin County Jail for DUI. The Stockton crash is still under investigation.
