Suspect in hit-and-run crash arrested in Highland
HIGHLAND, Calif. (July 8, 2022) — Kyle Michael Cornwell VI, 24, of Highland, was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of hit-and-run following a pedestrian accident on Baseline Street in Highland.
The deadly crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd, near McKinley Avenue, according to East Bay Times and the San Bernardino Sun.
Police say a driver in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck allegedly struck a 56-year-old man in the middle of Baseline Street.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. They found evidence and interviewed witnesses to confirm the type of vehicle involved in the crash.
They later located Kyle Michael Cornwell VI and arrested him at his home the following morning.
Authorities booked Kyle Cornwell VI into jail, but they did not charge him with a crime. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 6th.
The San Bernardino County coroner’s office will identify the victim after relatives are notified.
