Christopher Bunag, 42, Killed in Crockett Hit-and-Run Accident
CROCKETT, Contra Costa County (July 26, 2018) – The alleged hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist on San Pablo Avenue Tuesday night has been detained, according to East Bay Times.
The suspect, 28-year-old Martinez resident Kylie Derksen, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and on a $100,000 warrant.
As per the article, police said Derksen was driving a red Mini Cooper west on San Pablo Avenue toward Merchant Street when at the same time 42-year-old Christopher Rey Bunag was riding his bicycle in front of the car near The Dead Fish restaurant.

Derksen then struck Bunag from behind. The Hercules man was thrown off the bike and onto the asphalt. The collision occurred at around 7:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of San Pablo Avenue, just west of Dowrello Drive.
Police affirmed that Bunag was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing all the proper safety gear and a helmet at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, Derksen did not stop to render aid and fled. She was later taken into custody and reportedly remains in Contra Costa County jail.
