Woman, 77, Killed in San Jose Pedestrian Accident is Identified
SAN JOSE, Calif. April 3, 2024) — Kyung Kim, 77, of San Jose, was killed in February when a driver backing out of a driveway struck her on Saratoga Avenue in San Jose.
The deadly crash occurred at around 2:09 p.m. on February 10th, according to a press release by the San Jose Police Department.
Police officers responded to the collision in the 800 block of Saratoga Avenue and determined a driver in a 2004 tan Volkswagon Touareg SUV struck the woman on the sidewalk.
The motorist was reportedly backing out of a driveway on the west side of Saratoga Avenue, the report said.
The victim was walking on the west side of the sidewalk of Saratoga Avenue.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured woman to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The police department says this was the 8th fatal collision and 8th traffic death in the city in 2024. This is also the 5th pedestrian death of 2024.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Kyung S. Kim.
