Hit-and-run Motorcycle Collision on I-5 Freeway in La Jolla
LA JOLLA, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2018) — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday night when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on the Interstate 5 Freeway, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol about 10:50 p.m.
The vehicle struck the rider in the southbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway, near Nobel Drive, police said.
It’s unknown what the circumstances were leading up to the crash. Paramedics responded to assist the rider who suffered serious injuries. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, Police said.
At this time there was no description of the vehicle released.

A full investigation into what caused this collision is underway. Police are hoping to locate the suspect who fled the scene and it’s likely that criminal hit-and-run charges would be appropriate. There are certainly many unanswered questions such as whether or not speed or alcohol were factors.
