Motorcyclist Killed in La Mesa Crash at Fletcher Parkway and Southern Road
LA MESA, CA (June 3, 2021) – A crash at Fletcher Parkway and Southern Road killed a motorcyclist in La Mesa.
The incident happened on June 2 when a 30-year-old man was riding a motorcycle east on Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa. At the same time, a Toyota SUV was traveling on Southern Road.
Police said the driver of the Toyota then made a right turn onto Fletcher. In the process, the motorcyclist broadsided the Toyota at the intersection.
Motorcycle vs Car Collision in La Mesa
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene, just east of State Route 125. They found the rider suffering from severe injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital, where he died. The name of the deceased man has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the 18-year-old woman driving the SUV ended up unharmed following the wreck. She stayed at the site and cooperated with the authorities.
Officials forced Fletcher Parkway to shut down between Dallas Street and Chatham Street for several hours after the collision. The cause of the fatal La Mesa crash is still under investigation.
