LA MIRADA, California (April 8, 2016) — A man in his 30s was killed and two females suffered serious injuries Thursday night when their speeding car struck the center divider and crashed into a tree on Valley View Avenue, the Norwalk Sheriff’s Office stated.
The fatal crash took place about 11:40 p.m. last night, just north of Artesia Boulevard. The female driver also knocked over a sign and broke a water main as the vehicle crashed into the tree in the median. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut open the heavily-damaged vehicle and rescue the people trapped inside.
Paramedics responded to help those involved and transported the two women and the man who later died to a local hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries. Police are heading up an investigation into the tragedy to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor that contributed to the collision.
