4 Seriously Injured in La Quinta Crash at Avenue 48 and Dune Palms Drive
LA QUINTA, CA (September 19, 2022) – A DUI crash seriously injured several people at Avenue 48 and Dune Palms Drive in La Quinta.
According to the KESQ News and NBC Palm Springs, the accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on September 18 at about 4:49 p.m.
UPDATE: Driver in Dodge indentified/arrested on DUI charges
The incident began when a gray 2021 Dodge Durango was traveling at a high rate of speed west on Avenue 48 near Dune Palms Drive in La Quinta.
A white 2009 Nissan Rogue was going in the same direction. Deputies said the Dodge then slammed into the rear of the Nissan in the intersection.
The Rogue spun out of control and in the process, rolled over. Both vehicles obtained major damage due to the impact of the collision.
Drunk Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found the four occupants of the Nissan hurt. The victims sustained significant injuries as a result of the accident.
Paramedics rushed all four patients to the Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, the man driving the Durango declined medical aid. Deputies determined that he was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car.
They soon arrested and booked the suspect for DUI causing injury. Officers forced the area of Avenue 48 and Dune Palms Drive to shut down following the wreck.
The La Quinta crash is still under investigation.
